They flatter your shape in a way most wide-leg pants simply don't. They skim over your hips, flow beautifully as you walk and create that relaxed elegance that always looks expensive without trying too hard.

The fabric is gorgeous.

It's somewhere between a mid and heavier weight, giving it enough body to drape beautifully without feeling stiff. It moves with you rather than against you, which is exactly what I look for in wide-leg pants.

These are also lined from the waist to mid-thigh, which helps them hang beautifully through the hips and seat while giving you extra confidence in a lighter colour.

The deep pockets are real - and I use them constantly. Standing around chatting with my hands in my pockets feels completely natural and comfortable.

A few things worth knowing before you buy

These pants come with a matching self-tie belt made from the same fabric and colour as the pants.

The wide statement buckle belt you'll see me wearing in some of the photos is my own personal belt and isn't included. I simply prefer styling them that way because I like how it breaks up the paper bag waist and creates a stronger focal point on my body.

The included self-tie belt creates a softer, more relaxed look and is perfect if that's your style.

There isn't a belt loop at the centre back of the waistband. It might sound like a small detail, but it's one of the reasons these are so comfortable to wear. Nothing digs into your back when you're sitting, and nothing rides up uncomfortably during the day.

The trade-off is that after sitting for a long period, you may notice the centre back waistband has dropped slightly when you first stand up. It's not something you'll notice while walking or standing - just something I believe you deserve to know before buying.

The paper bag waist sits slightly higher than a standard waistband. If you have a longer torso, it's incredibly flattering because it breaks up your proportions beautifully.

If you have a shorter or more average-length torso, I'd suggest wearing your own favourite statement belt. A wider belt with a feature buckle creates a focal point that balances your proportions beautifully. That's exactly why I've styled mine that way.

Because these are a lighter colour, I also did my usual water test to see if they show excessive perspiration for those going through menopause.

Unlike the black pair, these did show water marks.

That's simply the nature of a lighter fabric.

For me, they're the perfect choice for days when I'm not expecting to get wet or be in situations where marks are likely. I'd rather tell you that honestly than pretend otherwise.

These are also a cooler-weather pant.

They're too warm for a hot Australian summer, but absolutely perfect through autumn, winter and those beautiful mild spring days.

These have a 34-inch inseam, so they are definitely on the longer side.

At 173cm tall, they're the perfect length on me.

If you're under approximately 165cm, you'll most likely want them hemmed or wear them with a heel for the best length.

If you have a longer torso, I think you'll find it beautifully flattering.
